The Francis and Joseph Fort burial grounds are located in Wayne Township just south of CR #750 south on the Carmichael farm in section #20 on the banks of Montgomery Creek. Francis Fort's burial grounds are about 20 yards north of Joseph's in the woods.
In 1962 Russell Fort, great-great grandson of Joseph erected a granite monument in memory of Joseph and his wife Mary (Dille) Fort. As can be seen in the photo, a tree is starting to grow near the marker and will most likely eventually upset the stone.
The Francis Fort burial grounds just north west of the Joseph Fort marker is back in the woods on the ridge overlooking Montgomery Creek. The last time I was there I noticed myrtle growing in several location indicating other burials. Those stones could be completely covered over with soil from the ages. I didn't have time to check it out.
These are two of the many little family plots located within the county that have been completely forgotten and never visited. The never receive any care and maintenance so they are completely overgrown.
