The Base Ball match between the "Lone Star Club" of Anderson and the "Blue River Club" of Knightstown, came off at this place on Friday last as announced, and resulted quite decidedly in favor of the Stars, the score being 72 to 25, we believe. We suppose the stars wear their laurels proudly.
As will be seen from the following report, some of our citizens caught the fever badly and went to work to organize a Base Ball Club, probably with a view of redeeming the credit of the county after the Knightstown "Blue River Club" lost to the Anderson "Lone Star Club" 72 to 25.
New Castle, October 13, 1866
A meeting of those who were desirous of organizing a Base Ball Club was held at C. J. Morrison's room, October 13, 1866. Meeting being called to order, C. J. Morrison, was elected President, and G. W. Burke Secretary and Treasurer. On vote by ballot, it was decided that the club should be designated as the "Belle Base Ball Club" of New Castle. The Club was then organized by the following appointments of positions.
