Salem United Brethren Church Cemetery

Dudley Township

Located in Dudley Township, Henry County, IN, in section #21, at the southeast corner at the intersection of County Roads 700S and 425E. The Salem United Brethren church was first organized on January 6, 1844 in Franklin Township with Charles Paxton, John Russell and Mahlon Pickering as trustees, with Mr. Pickering donating the land. The first log church was located about 1 mile southwest of the present church and burial grounds in Dudley Township. This church burned around 1860 and the church was rebuilt on the present site around 1860.
Some of the earliest members were the McGath, Smith, Modlin, Pickering, Paxson, Hawley, Russell, Scott and Stiggleman families.
The little graveyard is well taken care of by the present church members now known as the Salem United Methodist
