Organization of the Y. M. C. A. at New Castle, Indiana

In pursuance of a notice previously given, the subject of organizing a branch of the Young Men's Christian Association in New Castle was considered at the prayer meeting held Wednesday evening in the room over the Robert B. Smith's store. And a temporary organization was effected by electing the following officers: President, Benjamin Shirk; Vice-president, Robert B. Smith; Secretary, William H. Elliot; Treasurer, Eben Fairfield.
The following committees were appointed: To make an arrangement for a mass meeting and a permanent organization: Benjamin Shirk, President; William H. Elliot, Secretary; Eben Fairfield, Treasurer, C. M. Moore.
On securing and preparing room for the Association: T. R. Vaughn, M. E. McMeans, W. S. Tobey, and Thad Gordon.
On finance: Thad Gordon, W. S. Bedford, E. R. Saint, Obediah Jennings and Dr. J. F. Thompson.
On rules for government of temporary organization: Thomas B. Redding, R. L. Polk and Dr. J. W. Moore.
To solicit contributions of books, periodicals and etceteras. C. M. Moore and Frank Springer.
An earnest feeling was manifested and the attendance was fair and it is believed the movement will be a success.
