After the box is drawn you can execute the command and the area outside of the box will be discarded. Before you execute the crop (press Enter), you can adjust the size of the box to the size desired. You can also move the entire box by clicking inside the box and dragging it to the place desired. The box can also be rotated and distorted using the control points on the edge of the box.
Crop Toolbar Normal      This is the toolbar that is present when your first activate the crop tool. In this toolbar you can enter the height and width of the crop expressed in pixels, inches, centimeters, points or picas. You can also enter the desired resolution of the crop. The Front Image button is used if you have more than one image to crop. Pressing the button loads the dimensions of the active image into the crop options bar. You can then use these settings to crop the other opened images to the settings of the first image. The clear button clears all data entered in the dialog boxes.
Crop Toolbar Active      This toolbar appears after the crop box is drawn on the image. This toolbar allows you to choose if you want to delete the cropped portion or only hide it. You can also change the color and opacity of the area to be cropped. The Perspective check box, when checked, will place the center marker of the crop box on the center of the image regardless of where the crop box is drawn. This will allow you to rotate the box around the center of the image. You can also drag the center marker to any position you desire. With the perspective box un-checked, the center marker will be in the center of the crop box.
Cropping is very useful for removing unwanted portions of an image. It is also great for straightening scanned images that are not scanned perfectly. Distorting the crop box will produce some very interesting crops. Experiment with different settings and see what you can do.
